Every photograph is the beginning of a story. For me, those stories have something to do with the poetry of place. In each scene, traces of visual evidence provide clues as to character, plot, mood and theme. Questions are asked, mysteries suggested and truths revealed.
I am interested in the idea of setting as a narrative device. In this project, the place in question is Italy. These pictures include a Palladian Villa in the Veneto and a private garden along the Amalfi coast. However, the exact locations are less important to me than the atmospheres and moods they conjure. I call my photographs Journey Images because they transport the viewer to another realm.
